Ryder provides supply chain, dedicated transportation, and fleet management solutions to some of the world’s most recognized consumer brands, including the top 10 food and beverage companies in the U.S. In fact, in just about every industry, Ryder touches many of the products that consumers have come to rely on every day.

The problem

With thousands of drivers and hundreds of customers, Ryder needed a way to improve their communication and workflows to their fleet. Many of their customers have unique delivery requirements and the sheer volume of their customer base made it difficult to deliver the correct delivery specifications to each driver for each load. Drivers were frustrated with the lack of information, so Ryder was looking for a solution to customize their workflows to include all the necessary information for each delivery.

The solution

Working with Eleos Technologies, Ryder built their own custom driver app that is able to manage the unique needs of their customers. Using the app, they developed 23 different workflows that can be customized to meet the unique needs of the customer.  Once the driver arrives at their destination they use a barcode feature to scan the items, ensuring they are delivering the correct items to each customer. 

They have also extended the app to notify drivers of required training, to-do’s, HR notifications, company news, and many other important tasks that may need to be completed. With their app in place they make fewer mistakes and have improved the service level to their customers. And best of all, drivers love the attention to detail and are able to get back on the road faster and with less frustration.
