The problem

Melton Truck Lines found themselves limited by their previous telematics and messaging system, which had served them for over 25 years. The system’s lack of flexibility prevented them from adopting the latest driver workflow capabilities and hindered their ability to quickly communicate and adapt to new operational needs. Recognizing this gap, Melton sought a solution that would support faster billing, improved driver communication, and a dynamic, customizable workflow.

The solution

Partnering with Eleos and Add On Systems, Melton Truck Lines adopted a new, customized platform that addressed each of their unique challenges and enabled them to maximize fleet efficiency. Key features of this solution included:

This efficiency contributed to improved customer scorecards, as loads were closed out promptly.
  3. Workflow Prerequisites for Customer Needs: Melton integrated customized prerequisites that allowed them to meet specific customer requests, from special load-handling instructions to equipment requirements. This feature made it easier for drivers to follow detailed instructions, reducing errors and meeting client demands.
  4. Daily Newsfeed Updates: The newsfeed feature enabled Melton to deliver timely updates to drivers about market conditions, policies, and capacity demands. Published every morning, this map helped drivers make informed decisions about availability, adding flexibility to daily operations.
  5. Rich, Visual Communication: Using photos, diagrams, and videos, Melton provided clear, visual instructions for drivers, ensuring they received information precisely when they needed it. This reduced misunderstandings and enhanced the driver experience by simplifying complex instructions and creating a more interactive workflow.
  6. Rate My Load Survey: Through a survey feature in the Eleos platform, Melton allowed drivers to rate customers and locations based on their experience, from directions to interactions with staff. This internal feedback system helped Melton allocate resources more effectively across their customer base.
  7. Error-Free Workflow: The new system enforced a structured workflow, ensuring drivers submitted documents in the correct order and reducing technical errors. “Talking with the drivers, they have given us feedback that it’s easier to use, everything’s in order,” said Danielle McLean, Telematics Administrator at Melton. This feature allowed drivers to focus on their work without worrying about workflow mishaps.
